Reminder: Connect with your Neighbors on Facebook

Remember to check out the Facebook page for the Ashton Wood community. While it is not formally associated with the HOA, and the HOA does not control its content, it is an available place to share news, discussion, and recommendations with your neighbors. It is open for everyone to see. So, check out the Facebook page using the link above and request to join. This is a great way to inform residents of lost pets, things for sale, services wanted or recommended or just to see what has been happening in the neighborhood.

2017 Ashton Wood HOA Yard of the Week

As the summer closes and we head into fall, the Ashton Wood HOA Board would like to recognize all the Yard of the Week winners for the summer.  We have a lot of beautiful yards in our subdivision and neighbors who put a lot of effort and take a lot of pride in their property.  We all benefit from their extraordinary effort and we want to honor them on last time.  Congratulations to all those listed below.  If you would like to be part of the committee that helps select the Yard of the Week, then please visit www.ashtonwoodhoa.org and select “Contact” at the top of the page.  Fill out the form using the category “Yard of the Week” and express your interest in the message box.  Someone from the HOA will be in touch with you soon.  We are always looking for more neighbors to get involved in the Home Owners Association.

Community Yard Sale - Sept 16th - Please Let Us Know

The HOA has a large banner that we put out at the entrance on Braselton Hwy announcing we are having a “Community Yard Sale”. This gets a lot more people to stop by, but we like to have at least 5 homes participating before we put out the banner. If you think you will be participating that weekend, please let us know ASAP via the Contact Page on this web site so we will know if we have at least 5 homes participating before displaying  the banner. .

Pool News

The pool is open for all paid 2017 Swim /Tennis HOA Members. To keep Pool Membership fees as low as possible, we do rely on volunteers to help keep the pool and deck area clean. There is a signup sheet in the pool house. It is quite easy and only takes a few minutes a day to do. Please sign up! If you are not members and are thinking about joining you should drive by and check out the pool and tennis courts. We have two lighted tennis courts and the large pool is excellent for swimming laps, exercise or just cooling off. The application for HOA pool/tennis membership is on the last page.

Backyard Garden Tour

If you weren’t there Saturday, you missed it for this year.  Our neighborhood gardener’s handiwork was fantastic.  Some were labors of love that have spanned 24 years and some were much newer and are still evolving and growing. The gardeners were excited to talk about their yards, share information, and tell their stories.  It was a great time for getting to know more of your neighbors and to enjoy the beauty of nature. If you missed it, I am so sorry. My 13yr. old was not that into going with my wife and I but it was so inspiring and beautiful she went back to the car to get her camera.

Thank you to all the neighbors who are participating:

  • Robert and Reba Burch           2287 Ironwood Hill Court
  • Joe Jankauskas                        2322 Ironwood Hill Court
  • Louis and Mary Phillips            2858 Ashton Hill Drive
  • Bill and Myrna Zimmerman      2150 Ashton Ridge Drive

Neighborhood Alert!

A resident reported that they heard a disturbance outside during the night and saw a coyote and their cat facing off. The coyote ran off when approached by the resident. The cat did suffer some injuries and obvious trauma. I have seen a coyote sniffing around my neighbor’s garage door and another time as late as 8:30 in the morning one was lurking around in my neighbor’s backyard. Please be cautious about leaving pets unattended outside. They are predators of all small animals.

Backyard Garden Tour Saturday, June 3rd!

The time for the Backyard Garden Tour has arrived.  Our neighborhood gardeners have been working hard and are ready to share their handiwork.  On the day of the tour, there will be street directional signs telling you which streets to turn on.  There will also be decorative signs in the front yards of each neighbor that is participating.  Look for the pink flamingos.  The gardeners are all excited to talk about their yards, share information, and tell their stories.  It looks to be a great time for getting to know more of your neighbors and to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Window Screens Available

A neighbor writes:

My husband and I have some storm window screens from what looks like went to the original windows in our house.  We had all of the old windows replaced in 2009 and we no longer need the storm screens.
I'm not sure if some of our friends in this neighborhood still have the original windows and could use these screens.  We also have some storm glass as well.
Would you be able to send out an email asking our friends if they would need any of these?  If so, they can reach me at ...
I have attached some photos of the screen and windows.

If you are on the email distribution for the neighborhood newsletter, then you have (or will soon) receive an email with our neighbor's contact information included. A few pictures are included in this post.
