Neighbors Enjoyed a Great Block Party!

On the same day as the backyard garden tour, there was more enjoyable neighborly visits as many gathered for a block party hosted by several families. Wonderful food was grilled with skill or brought as pot luck, canopy tents were set up for shade, games of many types were played, and a wonderful time was had by all! Thanks to everyone who came out, and a special thanks to the families who hosted the event: Misuraca, Thomas, Eck, Peters, Roladers, Welch, Egan, and Kersey families.

Backyard Garden Tour a Success

The backyard garden tour was a huge success! Thank you those who opened up their backyards (six in all) for such a lovely time visiting with neighbors. The neighborhood really turned out, too, with some walking the neighborhood while others were seen carting or driving between the homes. Each family who showed their backyards to us should be proud of their accomplishments, and it is certain that each visitor came away with ideas for their own back yard!

BACKYARD GARDEN TOUR

Saturday, June 2nd, 2018

9 a.m. – 12 noon

The time for the Backyard Garden Tour has arrived.  Our neighborhood gardners have been working hard and are ready to share their handiwork.  Some of the gardners have made new additions/changes to their yards.  Come and see.  On the day of the tour, there will be street directional signs telling you which streets to turn on.  There will also be decorative signs in the front yards of each neighbor that is participating.  Look for the pink flamingos.  The gardners are all excited to talk about their yards, share information, and tell their stories.  It looks to be a great time for getting to know more of your neighbors and to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Neighbors participating:

Bell and Connie Bell                             2807 Ashton Tree Place

David and Sheirlyn Cox                        2895 Ironwood Briar Drive

Joe Jankauskas                                    2322 Ironwood Hill Court

Lynn and Donna Laycock                     2405 Ashton Ridge Drive

Oh, and did we say – This is free.  There is no charge.  Not a fundraiser.  Just a time to be neighborly!!

Yard of the Week!

When families move into Ashton Wood, new owners frequently comment on how well many of the yards are maintained and how that fact attracted them to our neighborhood. We do have some beautiful yards and every year the HOA recognizes the best of the best with our “Yard of the Week” designation. Yard of the Week will continue weekly until Labor Day.

There is only one “official” rule....you have to be at least a basic member of the HOA to win. Beyond that, we are simply looking for beautiful, well-maintained yards. We are also looking for your input! If you want to nominate a yard (even your own), visit our website, www.ashtonwoodhoa.com and select “Contact” at the top of the page. Use the contact form to send us your nomination, and choose “Yard of the Week” as your category so the form goes to the Yard of the Week committee. If you would like to help pick the Yard of the Week winners, you can let us know that as well using the same form.

Here’s to another year of beautiful yards in Ashton Wood! Good luck!

Congratulations to the winners of Yard of the Week thus far this season:

  • APR 08-15: David Eidson

  • APR 15-22: Carol & Michael Dobda

  • APR 22-29: Cindy & Rudy Lonergan

  • APR 29 - MAY 06: Jill Stevens

  • MAY 06-13: Daniel & Linda Joyner

  • MAY 13-20: Carolyn Haessler

So, check that email account for important information regarding access to the pool and tennis court facilities. If you paid for 2018 membership in Swim/Tennis, but did not receive the email, please check your spam folder first, as sometimes it might land in there.

The Spring Neighborhood Yard Sale will be held May 5th. If we know that at least 7 families want to participate, then a Large Banner will be erected at the neighborhood entrance to attract more traffic than a single-family sign. So, dig out those boxes of junk, oops I mean those cherished items and see what you can get for them.

Let us know you want to participate by using the form on the Contact page of the our web site and select the Yard Sale category.
